Tim King Appointed New Men's Senior Coach

Two-time Robina Premiership Coach Re-joins The Roo Pen

We are extremely excited to announce that Tim King will be re-joining the Roos in 2025 as Men's Senior Coach. For those unfamiliar with Tim (aka Kingy), he successfully coached the Roos to a Reserves Premiership in 2004 and was then elevated to Senior Coach in 2005 (at the age of just 23) and guided the Roos to yet another Premiership. After enjoying back-to-back years of coaching success, Kingy stepped away from coaching to travel, focus on his family, and pursue his career in teaching, where he is currently employed at Varsity College.

Despite having a lengthy break from Senior Coaching, Kingy has remained heavily involved in the game by coaching both junior and high school football over the past decade. The Roos' four-person selection panel was extremely impressed with how well Kingy presented himself in the coaching interview and highlighted communication skills, knowledge of the game, and professionalism as key characteristics that stood out most.

When asked to provide a statement about his new appointment as Men's Senior Coach, Kingy stated:

"I’m excited to return as the new Men's Senior Coach of the Robina Mudgeeraba Roos. I have always closely followed the Roos' progress after stepping away from coaching at the club 20 years ago to travel and focus on family. Attending our 20-year grand final reunion this year reignited my passion for coaching at this level. With my family’s support, I’m motivated by our club’s vision and can’t wait to be part of this journey.

While success is ultimately measured in premierships, my focus will be centred around guiding our talented young men, refining on-field systems, and continuing to build a strong club culture. With our junior club’s growth, it is a crucial time in our club’s history. Our juniors should be inspired by our senior men’s and women’s teams and aspire to continue to pull on the Roos' jersey well into the future.

I believe that with the support of the great people already at the club, and the focus on continued growth of our players both on and off the field, together we can achieve our goals.

Great clubs succeed because of the collective effort of all. Let’s get ready to put in the work! Here’s to exciting times ahead."

Kingy will be supported by a number of new and old faces at The Roo Pen in 2025, with some exciting new player and coaching appointments to be announced shortly.

We welcome Kingy and his family back to Robina Mudgeeraba Roos and look forward to seeing what the future holds.

Stay tuned for pre-season training dates as well as a Meet The Coach BBQ at the Club in a few weeks time.
