Roos Announce New Men's Reserves Coaches for 2019Written on the 7 February 2019
Matt, more commonly known as 'Crackers', has had an extensive football career as both player and coach throughout Queensland. He played juniors in Cairns for Centrals Trinity Beach Bulldogs and managed to play a handful of senior games at just 17 years of age. He then moved to the Gold Coast, where he played with Palm Beach Lions from 2002-2006. After a few years on the coast, he then relocated back to Cairns and Captained the senior side at Centrals Trinity Beach under Coach Glenn Coglan for 2007 & 2008. Matt then shifted back south in 2009 and re-joined Palm Beach, where he remained until 2013. From 2014, Matt has been involved at Robina as a player and now takes the step up into a coaching position. In total, he has played in excess of 150 games at Palm Beach, as well as 50+ at both Centrals Trinity Beach and Robina. Matt has played under some notable coaches during his career including Darren Creswell, Scott Lawton, Tim Deacon and Craig O'Brien. We look forward to Crackers sharing this experience and knowledge with our Reserves Team in 2019. Joining Matt as an assistant will be long-serving club player Aaron Kidney. Having also played at Palm Beach before joining Robina, Aaron has a great understanding of the game and is well connected throughout the Gold Coast AFL community. We wish Matt and Aaron all the best for the upcoming season and encourage all players (new and old) to get down to training, as the vibe amongst the group has been exceptional to start 2019. |
